Bharat Interface for Money or BHIM is a mobile application developed by National Payments Corporation of India. The application was launched by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India on 30 December 2016 at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.  This application has been named after Dr.Bhimrao Ambedkar and is projected to facilitate e-payments directly through banks and drives through priceless transactions. This application was considered to play a major role after demonetization in India.  This UPI application supports all Indian banks and can be used on all mobile devices.

BHIM or Bharat Interface for Money allows the users to send or receive money to other UPI payment addresses. There are various banks which are supported by BHIM such as Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Axis Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, Central Bank of India, DCB Bank, Dena Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, IDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Karnataka Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Karur Vysya Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, RBL Bank, South Indian Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank and Vijaya Bank. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has developed this app and the application can be downloaded from Google Play store and also from Apple store. BHIM is a very simple application and doesn’t require any rocket science or tough measures. After downloading, customers can register their bank account through BHIM, set a UPI pin and start transacting. The mobile number of a user will work as a payment address. Money can be received or send to a phone number. QR code can also be scanned to make any payment. Money can also be sent to non-UPI banks through IFSC using BHIM. If the user doesn’t have an android phone he can just dial *99# to access it without the use of Internet. There is a maximum limit of Rs. 10,000 per transaction and Rs. 20,000 within 24 hours.
